Walters, who was a highly experienced, qualified Nurse, understood the implications of undergoing a procedure in a teaching Hospital; she expected the Hospital to adhere to the core principals of Medical ethics. There is no excuse for altering or concealing documents. Despite all the sanctimonious preaching about ?honesty, integrity and transparency? Hopkins has repeatedly demonstrated this devious tactic. I once felt privileged to work in Hopkins OR alongside some of the finest Surgeons in the country, but I was frustrated by ignored systemic problems. Regulations were flagrantly violated in favor of ?the Hopkins way,? and deliberate deception during routine inspections was protected by silenced employees. Initially a positive attitude towards innovative employee input prevailed, but the priorities changed drastically as financial incentives precipitated dangerous staffing cuts in Hospitals throughout the US. Despite Hopkins impressive PR spin claims they are no exception to diminishing standards of care. After 5 years of conscientious service, with a strong commitment to patient advocacy, I was fired for blowing the whistle on: ?Deliberate Negligent Understaffing.? I expected honesty and ethical conduct as I sought reinstatement.
