Palomino is an ideal restaurant. One of Cincinnati's very best. 5/14/2007

When opening a business they always say that there are three things you need to keep in mind: ""Location! Location! Location!"". Palomino is located in the heart of Cincinnati, one of the most under-rated cities in the northeast, above Tiffany's Jewelers and overlooking the famed Fountain Square. My girlfriend and I were sat at a table next to the window and enjoyed our night watching the fountain water works and the lively downtown nightlife. The location is also just a couple of blocks walking distance from the majority of the city's hotels (which are cheap when purchased through last minute travel websites; all the more reason to visit Cincinnati). The ambiance at Palomino is rich with reds, dark mahogany woods, marble and choice lighting. The artwork, decor and spunky flare compliment the creativity of the kitchen. I was lucky to dine at Palomino during the Copper River Salmon run. The special of the night was, in fact, a wood-stoked fire baked cedar plank salmon filet that arrived at my table on a toasted wooden board, the aromas of which were rousing and sensational. The filet was a large portion and it was the most favorable salmon dish I have ever eaten. My girlfriend ordered the prime rib, which was perfect in size and cooked to her request. It was tender, juicy, and had a clean presentation on the plate. The restaurant was a bit louder than other comparable restaurants, much of the sounds coming from the kitchen and bar area, but it did not seem to bother us very much and, in fact, was almost at the level we would want considering the atmosphere. The staff was young but knowledgeable, and the manager even stopped by to ask us if we were enjoying our dinner and talked to us for a couple of minutes more because we told him we were from Canada. I highly recommend Palomino in Cincinnati especially during the Copper River Salmon run. Call to reserve, and really take in the experience as a whole because such an overall dining experience is rare. Pros: Palomino has done everything right. I highly recommend Copper River Salmon season. Cons: I truly found no faults at Palomino Cincinnati more
