Typical Competition Studio 5/14/2007

Dance Productions is a decent but very typical competition dance studio. If you want your child to learn how to dance to 3 minute numbers and do ""tricks"", then it is fine. If you want your child to learn how to dance and perform, take them elsewhere so they can learn technique. If your child is interested in dancing in college, get them out of a ""competiiton"" studio like Dance Productions when they enter HS.\r \r Dance Productions has a ""star"" system and you would be foolish not to be aware of it. Check out the dancers in the front of all the competion numbers, they are the same dancers for the most part. If your child is not a ""star"", they will be ignored. Dance Productions has been strong in tap, jazz and lyrical for years but it's weakness is ballet which is very important. Dance Productions does not offer ""Modern"" classes and this is essential if your child wants to continue dancing after HS.\r \r Regarding some of these reviews, quite a few sound like they are ""paid"" advertisements. The truth is somewher in the middle. Dance Productions does have some good and friendly teachers. The studio is pretty nice and they do have ""safe"" floors. Their recital is a bit different from other studios and they should get a little credit for doing something different . On the down side, management has always been disorganized. They will try and charge you for every little thing possible and check your ""competition"" statement like a ""hawk"". \r \r \r more
