I recently began to experience a ""knocking"" sound and hesitation while accelerating in my maxima. I took it to the Maxwell service dept and they were certain the car needed a ""flush"" to clean out excess carbon. After paying them $230 I picked up my car to discover that not only did the same issue still exist, it now did not want to go from 2nd to 3rd gear and often would not respond at all while accelerating. I returned it and they told me that I now needed a new mass air flow sensor which would be an additional $435!!! I immediately asked for my money back which they were unwilling to do until I asked to speak with management. After a spirited conversation they did refund the initial monies.\r

I took the car to Christian Brothers, which I should have done in the beginning. They too ultimately diagnosed a mass air flow sensor, however their cost on the same repair was $260...an almost $200 difference!!!!\r

If your car is under warranty (which mine was not)I can understand taking it back to maxwell Nissan. However, if you decide to take an older Nissan in for service at Maxwell, I strongly suggest you double check what they diagnose and the price they quote. In fact, save yourself the trouble and just take it to Christian Brothers.\r
