I've tried many of the mainstream upscale Japanese restaurants in NYC and finally decided to go for a more delicate/authentic experience. After doing much review, I decided to go to Sasabune on a Saturday for their famous Omakase. The reservation was made for 7, but after being stuck in traffic, we were delighted to when we were seated promptly at 8.\r

We were asked if we wanted to order drinks, what we didn't want to eat. Once these questions were answered, the show began. Sushi were served in pairs on a very simple white dish, but all of it tasted divine. The butterfish on rice surround by seaweed was the star of the night, and the bluecrab roll got better with each bite. The tab came to 170 for two and with a small bottle of Sake, I'd definitely come to this place again!
Pros: Amazing Fish, Friendly Service, Excellent Value
Cons: Cramped, Few Seats
