Le Marmiton has got to be - hands down - the best bistro fare around. If you need to satisfy a craving for first-rate French food without breaking the bank, served up in a very attractive yet unpretentious environment, Le Marmiton is definitely destination dining. All the classic fare is here: they do the brioche and croissant thing at breakfast. Lunch can be soup (onion or fish or du jour), salads, sandwiches, pates, or brick oven Alsatian pizzas (move over Wolfgang Puck). Dinner means country French choices to satisfy every palate. Along with traditional choices such as Coq au Vin, Beef Bourguignon, Steak au Poivre, Bouillabaisse, Mussels, etc., etc., there are always a handful of fantastic specials added on the menu to take advantage of the season. Save room for dessert as they are all top-notch. Love the tiramisu, creme brulee, etc., but make sure at least one of you remembers to order up a chocolate souffle (20 minutes to prepare). We've been to the restaurant more than half a dozen times since it opened its doors, and we can honestly say that every dish we've ordered has been prepared to perfection every time. How often can you say that about a place nowadays? The wine list covers all the necessary bases, excellent choices and very fair prices. The atmosphere is fun, convivial and relatively informal, while at the same time a safe bet for a nice, romantic dinner. Check it out once, and not only will you be back, you'll be spreading the word.
