Indulge in the Experience, the Food Comes Second 4/5/2007

Per Se is that special experience you save and cherish for especially when you don't have an expense account picking up the tab. I went with a friend and her coworker who brought a cousin. Tip: Please do not go here with strangers, it's a looong meal to be savored and for 5 long hours you really want to be with like-minded people. The folks I dined with rather ruined the experience ( criticizing every course AND making calls on their cell phone) each person is served at the exact same time so make sure you go to the restroom before your next course is due to arrive or it throws the whole table off. We got VIP treatment since my friend is an employee there, and the service and presentation were both phenomenal. Gorgeous stacked plates and custom made containers for each dish. We got over 15 tiny courses, some exceptional, some great and some that just didn't work. The oysters and pearls, gougers, signature salmon tartare cornets were excellent. My favorite was the black truffled egg served in the shell, the most amazing texture and mesmerizing flavor, if I think back long enough I can still taste it! My lobster in minestrone was a disappointment, overcooked and the texture and flavor of the soup added nothing. Fabulous hazelnut dessert. Overall, I was a little disappointed. I would go back, but with someone special. Pros: Amazing service more
