I saw Dr. Rao for a few months and in all that time my LONGEST appointment literally lasted about 5 minutes. I felt as though Dr. Rao had memorized a list of medicines to prescribe if one didn't work, then use this one, etc. I didn't feel as though I was treated for my INDIVIDUAL symptoms or reactions to medications.\r

Even though I am VERY sensitive to medication and usually require 1/2 of the STARTING dose of most medications (never more than the usual starting dose), he always prescribed me what the usual starting dose is in the Medical Books from day 1 of my treatment. Trust me I know this as I am very knowledgable in Psychopharmaceuticals. It got to the point where I had to start playing Doctor and taking less than what was prescribed just to function!\r

My review may not sound very reliable as I am a medication lightweight, but there are MANY of us out there and I have been going through my ""problems"" for over 20 years now. I know my body and what it can handle and I felt that Dr. rao didn't listen to me and seemed irritated if I even questioned what he prescribed.\r

Oh and another BIG THING is that he ALWAYS wrote the wrong dosages on my prescriptions so I had to check them over before leaving his office because he ALWAYS had to fix what he wrote. No exaggerations. This happened all but probably 2x. For real.\r

The only great thing I have to say is that you can usually get an appointment fairly quickly once you're an established patient since he works 6 days a week and is open late. But his office staff is not very friendly and some of the receptionists weren't very competent so sometimes it was a pain making or changing an appointment.\r

I would say keep looking for another psychiatrist as I am sure there are better out there. I have seen another since Dr. Rao but am again looking as there were never any appointments available if you needed to come in before your monthly visit.
Pros: Open 6 Days a week and until 9 PM.
Cons: Dr. didn't treat me as an individual case. Just did things by the book. Unfriendly and not the Best Staff.
