Sooo overrated, people 3/19/2007

I've been a few times and never had a good experience. You're greeted by smug attitudes at the front desk almost coming off as annoyed that they're so busy, and the wait staff looks so unhappy like they're forced to be there for community service. The chicken is fatty, and the naan isn't the greatest, and like many others have stated it's crowded, loud, and they want you in and out. Last night I wanted to give it a second chance with my date before a movie nearby. They told us it'd be five minutes, but didn't ask for a name or anything. 30 minutes later after five different parties were seated ahead of us, (the last one being the second party of two to arrive after us), I left so angry. My girlfriend took the opportunity to let them know how bad that made them look and they promised the next table was ours. No thanks. If you've been in business this long and still have no idea how to be friendly and inviting, and employ some sort of list of names during busy times than that's just sad. The food was mediocre the two previous times I went, so I was fine walking out. I've heard good things about Taste of India right up the road, but I still think I'll stick with Chutneys on Capitol Hill for the best service, nice atmosphere, adequate seating and best food for your money (Chicken Tikka Masala is a must - and excellent naan). When you dine out you should be made to feel that your business is appreciated. Notice all of the recent reviews of Cedars are mostly very negative. Believe them. more
