I had dinner on my own here at the bar one Wednesday night and it was a very pleasant experience. Steak, fries and a glass of red wine...a good book kept me company along with the friendly and attentive bartender. The atmosphere is comfortable and pleasant; the staff was very friendly and helpful. It was neither crowded nor empty the night I was there--just right, in my opinion. The steak was quite large given standard New York portions and was very tender. Overall, a very relaxing and enjoyable meal at the bar. I will go back again and would recommend it to solo diners as well as to couples or groups seeking a more intimate, warm environment rather than a loud ""scene"" spot.
Pros: Warm, attractive atmosphere. Friendly staff. Good place to eat at the bar.
Cons: None I can think of.
