I was looking forward to dinner at Fiamma, especially after the great review by the Times. A friend and I went on a Saturday night. The service was great and people were very friendly. However, the food did not live up to my expectations, especially for the price. I got a five course prix fixe meal ($100) and most of my dishes were average in taste or salty. The sepia was good, but not great, and certainly not the level of taste I was expecting. I wanted to enjoy the lasagna, but it was so salty I kept asking for more bread to eat with the lasagna. I also had wild bass, which was good but not outstanding. By the time I got to the rib eye veal, I was so full from eating bread and drinking water that I only got a couple bites in before having to put my fork down. \r
Hopefully my experience was an aberration; but, unfortunately, I won't be returning -- there are too many good restaurants in nyc to enjoy.
