The store is full of charming items, but horrible customer service. The manager is 100% sales driven and 0% customer driven. I recently purchased a stocking after having a conversation with the sales associate about seeing if it would work in my house and if not, returning the item. The young sales associate was very pleasant and encouraged the sale. Not once was I informed that seasonal merchandise has a no return/ no exchange policy. The stocking unfortuanetly did not fit in my house so I returned to the store excited to exchange it for another item as well as purchase three other items I had seen the previous shopping trip. The manager explained the no return/ no exchange policy and handed me a framed sign from the side wall stating the return policy. I explained to her that I never saw the sign in the upstairs portion of the store and she said no exceptions. After explaining the conversation I had with the sales associate and asking her to next time inform the customer she simply stated that the young sales associate I had the purchasing encounter with probably didn't work there anymore and that EVERYBODY knows the policy. Keep in mind I was returning within a week of the original purchase. I left and no matter how charming the treasures in her store are, I refuse to return. I understand sticking with a policy, but there are exceptions to every rule and I believe being misinformed constitutes as an exception. And all though the manager claims there was a sign somewhere near the check out, I never saw one. The moral of the story is the store is all about sales. The manager considered the $40 seasonal item more important to her than a happy guest returning to make more purchases. I wonder if she would have been more helpful if I was in my fourties and came in with a Chanel bag and Burberry coat. I do not recommend this store.
