I moved to Houston from Chicago 3 months ago. By now I am getting a little homesick for the Chicago nightlife of North Halsted and Rush Street. I went online and pulled up what appeared to be the most "happening" club in the Montrose area. . . South Beach. I was plesantly surprised by the decor, the crowd ( small as it was), and the music was exactly what I needed to hear. What shock to find is the level of ruddness by all of the staff (that we encountered). It started with the cashier at the door who, after we mentioned his less than savory attitude, informed us that if we didn't like his attitude now he could "kick us out " if it got any worse. This was before we even entered the venue. When we sat down at the bar, the manager just happened to be walking the floor. When I explained to him about our episode at the door his comment was that the cashier had a cold???? I still don't know what that has to do with the price of tea in China. Nonetheless, we went on and had a very nice evening( what was left of it). At 3:45am in this club that was supposed to be open until 5am, we were informed that the club would be closing for the evening by someone walking the floor with a microphone. When we mentioned the time he abruptly said ( on the mic by the way) "Just Go!" and walked into the DJ booth. As I said earlier I've only been in Houston for 3 months and if everyone was as rude, arrogant, and unfriendly as these people, I would not have moved.
It really is a top notch club, they just need a staff adjustment. This is a customer service industry. Hello.
Pros: Great Ambience
Cons: Very Poor Customer Service
