My wife and I have lived in this neighborhood for just over a year and have driven past Genghis Cohen countless times. The other weekend we went for a walk and decided to give it a try. What a shocker!! This restaurant is by far the best Chinese we have had in LA. The atmosphere is great and the food is excellent. We started with the shrimp dumplings and then I had the Crackerjack shrimp, my wife had the Orange Peel chicken and we shared a veggie fried rice. The shrimp was perfectly crispy and the sauce was great. The chicken was fantastic too. The whole meal plus 2 beers came to just over $60 including tip.\r

We now have a rule to never discount restaurants in strip malls (this isn't really a strip maill, but it doesn't look like the nicest place from the outside) and do yourself a favor and walk around your neighborhood. Chances are there'll be a great restaurant or bar right on your doostep that you never notice from behind the wheel of your car!!
