Wow, I'm AMAZED at some of the bad reviews I've read about Yoko's. I've been going there for a year and average at least one trip a month...so, after about 15 visits, I feel like I've got a pretty good handle on the place. I've also eaten at almost every sushi place in town, with the exception of a few really high-end joints in the Pearl and downtown. Yoko's serves, hands down, the most consistently high-quality and well-prepared sushi I've ever had in Portland. The fish is fresh and flavorful, and portions are generous. The rolls and specials are inventive without being silly. The soft-shell crab and hamachi simply cannot be beat.\r

Yes, it's small and you'll have a long wait (this is NOT a great place for little kids or large parties). Yeah, the staff gets busy and sometimes they forget things but they're always apologetic about it. I've never been told that I can't order more food; in fact, I normally sit at the bar and the sushi chef asks me if I'd like something else every single time. Unless I'm starving or in a hurry, Yoko's is my first choice.\r

I'm not really sure why I'm trying to convince you, now that I think about it... it just means you'll show up and make the wait longer for me.
Pros: Excellent fish, nice atmosphere, great rolls
Cons: Long wait
