I have visited Oasis numerous times over the past five years and have never been disappointed. I've had massages, facials and scrubs with various therapists and always had a great experience. I was very surprised to read some of the negative reviews as I am an avid spa goer and have been to over 30 different spas in the city and Oasis is one of my favorites! The relaxation room is calming, quiet and offers small treats and beverages. I never feel rushed (even if I'm the last appointment of the night) and the staff is always pleasant and attentive. I also like the fact that Oasis is not sales-y like other spas and doesn't make you feel like your sitting through a sales pitch during your treatment.
Recently, I was pregnant and in desperate need of monthly prenatal massages. I started going to Oasis halfway through the pregnancy and continued until my due date. Nancy was a lifesaver. She was compassionate, open to feedback and truly expressed interest in my areas of concern, pressure, etc. She instinctively knew when I wanted to talk or simply drift away. I didn't feel like I was in a pregnant body when Nancy worked on me. I felt no pregnancy pressure and even managed to fall asleep -- very rare for anyone in their third trimester!
Oasis is truly a spa worth visiting. I don't think any business (especially in NYC) can please all the people all the time but Oasis truly comes close. I've noticed the owner, Bruce, personally answers the negative reviews and encourages unhappy visitors to contact him. This is a testament of how he cares and wants to offer an exceptional spa experience to all of his clients. Many of the NYC spas are not privately owned but simply owned by a large corporation/board. Those spas could care less about their clients. You could visit every month for years and they wouldn't even notice you. Oasis offers exceptional service and treatments and is a tremendous asset to the spa and beauty industry.
