Through a bit of serendipity, I met James de Colon when I got engaged. I wanted my wedding dress to be one of a kind, beautiful and flattering--what bride wouldn't!. Being a plus-sized person, I was apprehensive about whether he would even work with me.\r
\r
We met, and he showed me some of his designs, pictures from former brides, girls w/ prom dresses, etc., and as we were talking, James (pencil and sketchpad in hand) sketched out an idea for a wedding dress. He's not only a designer, he's an artist. The rendering was wonderful.\r
\r
It was his design, but I added some suggestions--he was very open to what I had to say.\r
\r
The dress was made out of 100% chinese silk crepe and silk satin with a lace bodice. He and his staff *hand sewed* pearls and sequins on the one-of-a-kind lace he procured for this creation. He made the train completely removeable and I now have a cocktail dress that I can wear again. Ingenious.\r
\r
My wedding day was lovely, my dress was lovely, and working with James on my dress to make this a memorable day was nothing but a pleasure. If you are looking for extremely personalized service--for a special occasion like a prom or wedding or even just a special party or something ""dressy casual""--something you'd like to make a statement with--James is the person to see. You won't be sorry!
