Great Weekend at the Heathman. 1/1/2007

We are from Seattle and came down during the big storm of '06 when all of the Eastside of Seattle had no power. We decided to avoid downtown Seattle and make a vacation out of it and goto Portland. We had an American Express Concierge recommend a hotel in the four star range. The Heathman was a great choice, right in the middle of everything. We got a double bed room and it was nice and roomy, since we could not get a room with a single king bed. We were not picky since we were already driving to Portland when we booked the stay. They invited our 40 -lb dog with no problem and everyone was friendly. There was a park behind the hotel that connected to the campus of Portland State, and we were three box from Saks and Nordy's. We stayed for 2 nights. We only ordered midnight snacks and breakfast for room service and it was decent. I usually have some problem sleeping on hotel beds, even nice hotels, but this one proved no problem. I think we had some kind of pillow top bed. They offered temperpedic beds also (we have one at home, and I would have preferred if I knew) The lobby looked very nice, but we could not enjoy it with the doggy. The Hilton was across the street, it looked nice but not as cozy... Pros: great location more
