My partner and I went to dinner at Kallaloo recently and thoroughly enjoyed it and have been recommending it to everyone.\r

The location is great being just off Rainier South in the heart of Columbia City. Parking was easy to find on the side street plus there is a lot across the street which offered parking for $1 for 2 hours which is perhaps the best parking deal in Seattle.\r

The decor was lovely and relaxing and roomy. The front of the restaurant is all windows and since it was warm all the windows were opened and a nice breeze was blowing through and we were able to get a table at the window which I definitely recommend.\r

The service was great. We had plenty of time to chat leisurely while our meal was being prepared without waiting too long. My partner had an iced tea and the server was there anytime it got low with a refill and more lemon. And she frequently came by throughout dinner to make sure everything was satisfactory.\r

We ordered the Creole eggplant for an appetizer which was delicious. I could almost have made a meal of that alone it was so good. For entrees my partner had the Grilled Pork Chop which I tasted and can say it was wonderful. The flavor was perfect. It came with a side of plantains which aren't my favorite but my partner who likes plantains said they were great. And the red beans and rice had a great flavor without being too spicy. I had the Barbados Oven Fried Chicken which was fried to perfection. The seasonings used on it were flavorful without being spice. It came with macaroni pie which I loved and the callaloo which I thought was amazing. I'd never tasted callaloo before and I can't wait to have it again. And we both agreed that the prices were very reasonable.\r

The desserts looked wonderful but by then were just much too full since the portions are very generous. \r

All in all we had a wonderful meal and a great time and we will definitely be back soon.\r
