The staff is welcoming and friendly, the decor is tasetful and stylish, and the food is great. But I think it's the little details that make dining at melt such a great experience. Little details like having a cocktail special every evening (and the bartender is talented), like offering from a selection of breads (olive bread is especially good), and really attentive service. Your wine and water glasses are always kept topped up, they don't make you keep your dirty cutlery for the second course, and the wait staff wait until everyone at the table has finished their meal before clearing the plates, which is SO rare & very much appreciated.\r
The food is great, I've never had a bad meal here. The whipped mashed potatoes are divine, and the specials are always interesting and yum.\r
Brunch here is also fantastic - the omelette is so light and fluffy, I have been three times for brunch & keep saying I'll try something new, but I can't resist it every time.\r
I highly recommend Melt, and while they'd probably be busier if they were right on 5th Avenue, their position means you can nearly always get a table without a reservation.
