The complex is incredibly cheap and poorly built. The walls are thin and you can hear everything... absolutely everything. The ventilation is shared among apartments so when your neighbors burn food or smoke, your entire apt stinks like a fast food restaurant mixed with a hippie den. To make matters worse, the windows are not operable, so you are basically living in a poorly ventilated sealed box. Also, the laundry room rarely locks so it's quite common to find homeless people sleeping in it.
