We went to Rey's with a large group (10 adults and 5 children) for a special occasion. We were seated in one of the private rooms. Although service was excellent, the food and drinks were ordinary at best. The martinis were just okay. I had the Hurricaine martini which was only vaguely reminiscent of the famous drink served in New Orleans. I followed that with a Maker's Mark martini (I forgot what they call it but it was supposed to be a New Orleans version of the Manhattan) which was not very good at all and sour mash whiskey is my favorite drink. You wound think after all that booze the food would have to be good. Not so much. The Grilled Chicken and Sausage Gumbo was the only high point of the meal. I ordered a 12 oz Filet medium-well and it came to the table RARE! I also ordered it blackened and as far as I could tell, it was not. I can make a much better steak than that for a fraction of the cost on my grill at home! The side dishes were nothing to write home about either. The Lyonnaise Potatoes
Pros: Excellent service, nice ambiance
Cons: Below average food, especially for the price
