I love the food, the meatloaf is a highlight, the steaks are wonderful and everything I have had to eat or drink has been first rate. \r
The amibance of the restored firestation is amazing, the dining room is very nice but I really love the outdoor patio dining and the bar. The bar is long and narrow-the firetruck used to park there, and it is without equal in Los Angeles for atmosphere. It is called Mixville, a pun on the name of Tom Mix the cowboy star who made his movies in the area and the mixing of cocktails, but the real story here is the mix of people...this is an ecclectic crowd if ever there was one! \r
Each and every time I have been there I have seen famous people, for those who like that sort of thing. Movie and TV stars as well as writers, painters, recording artists. \r
As a local hang out Edendale is the tops. It would be my number one choice for out of town guests as well, very Los Angeles, historical, delicious and good for people watching. The service is excellent and the staff has personality without being overbearing, it is like dining with friends. The neighborhood is safe and charming, a bit off the beaten path. \r
This is one of my favorite L.A. restaurants and everytime I go there I love it more. It just gets better on every level, it seems they are always improving their game, which I really admire in any restaurant. \r
Without a doubt it is the most comfortable place I know in the city and dinner there always seems to be more fun than anywhere else. Flatiron steak with Maytag Blue Cheese my personal all time favorite there, followed very closely by the meatloaf, which really is as good as a steak, my favorite of all meatloafs!
Pros: food, ambiance, patio
Cons: can be busy, some people don't know the area
