Yama's sushi is definitely a cut above ""good,"" but it used to be that they didn't cost much more than the average sushi joint. On 49th street, it does. Granted the space is very nice and the service is good, but Yama 49 is no bargain; you pay for what you get. And it's a small peeve, but they still haven't figured out how to properly make a spicy tuna roll (theirs is a regular tuna roll with a few tablespoons of goopy mayo poured over the top).
