Way Over Priced for the Quantity and Quality 8/30/2006

Yes we were promptly seated on a Wednesday night, as the restaurant was clearly empty. The waiter greeted us with, ""what kind of water would you like, flat or sparkling""? He didn't give us the choice. He was very good at explaining the menu items and specials, not very good at explaining the lack of size of the portions and mediocre quality. Rocca, where are you? Your ""affetati misti"" a huge plate of the best quality italian meats sliced generously for $18, compared to the ""cutting board"" , priced at $14/person, where the amount for ""two"", charged for two was more like for 1/2 a person-not to mention the meats were sliced as thin as possible. The name implies ""wine bar"" but there are no 1/2 glasses or 1/2 caraffes available and when I asked the, waiter said that I could order 2 glasses. Hardly the point. Since there were only about two glasses priced at $10 and under, not a real selection. The valpolicella I ordered was too warm as well. I can understand the venetian spaghetti being small, as that is typical for authentic italian, but nothing special and you had to get a magnifying glass out to find the 1/2 chopped anchovy filet, if that. Nobody ever really checked back; couldn't get the waiter's attention when we needed something; had to watch the waiter going outside to talk twice. Well I guess when your not busy after being open a year, you've got time to spare. Anyone who has been to Italy and eaten or has any savy about good quality food at the right price for what you're getting, won't be fooled by this. Not impressed. Pros: Easy to get a seat because restaurant is empty. Cons: Price/Portion/Quality-not equal, not a true wine bar, not warm service more
