According to the hostess, they haven't even had their grand opening yet - I am so glad I found this place NOW because when they do put their name out there this place is going to EXPLODE!\r
Really impressive menu - french bistro classics (but up-dated and with a twist - Moules in a Geuze Beer sauce, for example, was delicious) & Steak Frites (Sauce Brune- mmm!) - choice of 2 cuts. \r
5 friends and I came across this place by accident last Saturday (tired of our standard haunts) and were seated at the marble high table in the centre of the action - it got busy after 9pm so we lucked-out with our seats.\r
We ordered just a couple of things to start - Mac and Cheese and Sweet Potato Fries from the ""American Classics"" page, with our various wines and really inventive list of beers - after they arrived and we tucked in, we quickly ordered just about everything on the menu! Mac & cheese was awesome - 3 types of cheese and loads of pancetta w/ farfalle macaroni plus a great crispy top - the way it's meant to be!\r
Smoked Salmon over vegetable pancake with Creme Fraiche and Ikura was easily the winner in our group - but others enjoyed the Crab Cakes (were those really pieces of walnut inside?!? next time I'll ask - but it really worked) and Chicken Wings with Blue Cheese sauce and hot sauce on the same plate - cut creatively so that they can be eaten without sauce dripping! Fries were so very good - pleased to see house-made mayonnaise served alongside; belgian-style!\r
Main plates were equally satisfying - the burger was gargantuan - but everybody finished - great cheeses inside plus arugula and caramelized onions (really caramelized - no short cuts here!) The Halibut special was in a sublime potatoe puree tempered with truffle oil - please put this back on the specials menu!\r
Clafoutis astounded, figs not sweet enough, cabernet sorbet a delight - we stayed over 2.5 hours (wish the music had been a little louder) and check was less than expected!
Pros: Great menu, friendly staff, relaxed & informal atmosphere
Cons: Expand the menu please!
