All the good reviews about Tamarind Tree are SHOCKING! First of all, it's located in this weird ally... be careful of beggars and thieves. Lock your car doors! Next, the food is extremely overpriced for Vietnamese cuisine. You can go to a lot of places in (and out) of Chinatown where you can get the same stuff for less than $5. The food is not even good here. My porkchops were dried and flavorless, and the portions are small. It's not authentic at all--you just think it is because it's ""different."" But like I said, there are good, authentic Vietnamese places out there that are cheaper. Oh, and the wait staff? It takes forever to get their attention, and when you do, they rush you. The only good thing about it is that it has a really nice, classy atmosphere. Oh, and the fact that they have a bar is good too. You can get drunk and forget about how bad the food is. The bottom line is, if you've had Vietnamese food before, you will be disappointed by Tamarind Tree.
