I didn't get a $20 haircut, paid about the same as I pay at the place I go now, and had a disappointing experience. Everyone who spoke to me was just going through the motions, not bringing any genuineness to the experience. I suppose this might not bother some people but I couldn't relax and enjoy myself when I could see how fake the pleasantries were. The stylist was remote and did not put me at ease.
