My wife and I saw a special on the History Channel which featured Lombardi's and learned that it was the first pizzarea in the united States. (1904) We made it a point to visit Lombardi's on our ""Christmastime"" trip to NYC. We were not let down. Not only was the pizza excellent, the atmosphere and staff was great. I asked if someone would take a picture of us by the original oven. Not only was that done, but the entire cook staff got involved and participated in the picture. We now have a great picture with the oven in the background and some very happy faces. If you are going to NYC, you must visit this landmark. You get some history and a great meal.
