In the past weeks I have dined at 17, Shade, and T'afia and was looking forward to revisiting Cafe Annie for the first time in years. I mention these other restaurants, because perhaps the owners of Cafe Annie should venture out and see how the competition has evolved while they've been resting on their laurels.
The room is anything but luxurious - stark without being modern. The popular floral arrangements were pedestrian - nothing but palms and bromeliads. The food may have been interesting 25 years ago, but now it pales in comparison to the lighter, more inventive fare available around town. They should consider a dress code as the clientele were at best underdressed. Only the service was as one should expect from a restaurant with Cafe Annie's reputation. The staff were kind and attentive and my dinner companion charming. Otherwise, the evening and the restaurant were both forgettable.
Pros: staff
Cons: food, interior
