The wife and I eat here every time we visit Austin. The last week of July we ate there twice in as many days because what the Magnolia does is special. The food is very fresh and simply creative. Voodoo spice burgers? Gingerbread pancakes? Catfish tacos? The waitstaff is not populated by bubbleheaded psychology majors still angry about not getting that record store job, but are instead concerned and menu-savvy folks. Sometimes you have to wait to get in- big deal. It is that good. And to someone who knew Austin pre-6th Street, the Magnolia on Lake Austin reminds what Austin was and still is in memory.
Pros: waitstaff, food, prices
Cons: parking
