I've been having my hair cut at Astor Place for at least a decade. I've used probably a dozen different stylists ... I like to change from time to time so I'm not dependent on the same one every time. When I get home, my wife always says, "Nice haircut," which I interpret as clearance to use that stylist again. The only time I was less than ecstatic with the result was when I tried to micromanage the stylist, a mistake I've never made again. If you have an idea what you want, you ust tell him/her "not too short," or, "just a trim," or whatever's on your mind, and you'll be a happy camper. Remember to give a nice tip ... anything under $5 is cheaping out.
Pros: inexpensive, great ambience, fast in, fast out
Cons: crowded weekends
