The owner from Zeke's cornered my friend and I while we walked out of the BBQ joint down the street and insisted we try his too. We were a little weirded out by his tactics, but figured we'd give him a shot.
While we waited for our order, a lone beef brisket sandwich with the hot bbq sauce, he explained his plan of attack. He smokes his meat rather than bbq-ing it, he claims his method makes it more tender.
The meat was softer than butter, so he's got something there. The smokiness really came through and gave the meat a deep richness to it that wasn't overpowering. The sauce was where I was let down. It was a little bland. There was some nice heat to it, but failed to prove itself.
I may give Zeke's another try, but I was dissapointed.
Pros: Friendly Service, Nice Smokey Flavor
