My 1-hr massage (which cost me $100) consisted of absolutely no real ""massaging"". The woman who treated me first oiled me down - using absolutely NO pressure on my muscles - and then pat me dry with a towel. After this, she ""massaged"" everything BUT my muscles (i.e., my knee caps, ankles, wrists, hair) until the end of the session. I then asked, surprised, ""What about my back and neck?"" and she replied, ""Oh. You didn't tell me you wanted that"" - as if that were unheard of. So maybe it's my fault that I didn't clarify what I was paying for, but I have never received a message (I've had 100s) where my back and neck were avoided. So conclude what you may, but the point is that I walked in feeling sore and I walked out feeling sore, oily, and ripped off.
