I haven't lived in Portland long and I have most of the gear I need, but the few times I've needed somthing I've gone to US Outdoor Store. Everytime I've gone in I've been able to find exactly what I needed. One of the most impressive things about USOS is the amount of staff they are able to keep in the store. Their prices aren't cheap, but what can you expect with the quality of equipment they carry. Even though it is busting at the seems you'd hardly know it, I never have to squeez by racks (if the store isn't full of people), and things are neat and orderly. From my limited interaction with the staff they are all pleasant and appear to know what they're talking about.
