Delicious food in large portions, iffy service, reasonable prices. About half the dining area is on a low platform, with seating on cushions. The swaths of fabric draped across the ceiling add a festive atmosphere. I recommend sitting there if you're comfortable, it's more fun. I've loved everything I've tried here, but some perennial favorites are the aushak (leek-stuffed dumplings w/meat and yogurt sauce), boroni kadoo (pumpkin curry), and especially quabili pallow (lamb & rice pilaf, ""Afghanistan's famous dish"") Definitely save room for the ice cream!
