Solas is quite simply the best bar in New York. Successfully straddling weeknight coziness and weekend hipness, Solas appeal lies is in its incredibly warm staff and management who bring good vibes, great service, terrific music and,
for us ex-pats, a place to visit home when particularly homesick. Although an Irish-owned pub, don't expect shamrocks and shennanigans, just the craic, warmth and excellence that is sadly lacking from most bars here and certainly Solas's counterparts in Dublin. Check out upstairs on Fridays and Saturdays for resident Ipod-jockey Kevin's smooth blend of old and new.
