I was looking for a romantic restaurant to surpise my wife on her birthday. I called ahead, made reservations and let them know that the evening would be for a special occasion. This was pivotal in ensuring a great evening. The staff was prepared and extremely friendly. They even had a special desert waiting for us with her name written out in chocolate.
The restaurant itself is small, quaint, and charming. As others have noted, the food isn't the best, but it isn't as horrific as others make it sound. When in doubt just order simpler dishes that are hard to get wrong. Such as the steaks, or linguine with clam sauce.
I cant tell you how many ""nice"" restaurants we have been to, only to be disappointed. However, our experience at Il Cielo was most memorable. I highly recommend this restaurant. Just be sure to call ahead.
