I'm not sure if they really "invented" the French dip sandwich but who really cares? They just don't make places like this anymore. $4.60 for the standard beef, pork, ham or turkey dip. Pennies more for lamb. 10 cents for a cop of coffee.
Make sure you get your sandwich double dipped. A bowl of stew or chili is mandatory. Great slaw, pickles and macaroni/potato salad.
And don't forget to tip your counter person. Trust me, they will remember.
