Lake Wheeler Park is a beautiful place but I don't recommend going to this park during the week. The Park Manager contaminates the pleasant atmosphere that people go to parks to find (he only works during the week). I have personally witnessed him harrassing people who are minding their own business and aren't breaking any of his ""rules."" Major power trip going on there. There are so many rules and policies in place at this park (not to mention all the bright red signs that distract from the views), that you feel you have to walk on eggshells just to take a stroll on the walking trails.
In addition, this park is not handicap accessible. Don't try to enjoy it in a wheelchair - you won't be able to get out of your car.
