My friend and I went with high expectations after all the buzz about this place and were exceedingly disappointed. We shared 5 dishes from the main menu: 1 was decent, 3 were mediocre, and 1 was inedible. When I pointed out to the waiter (after much gesticulating to get his attention as he was flirting with someone) that my fish was raw and the menu didn't note that, he said the menu said it was ""slow cooked"" and walked away. Uhm, the last time I looked, ""raw"" and ""slow cooked"" did not mean the same thing.
One exception: the dessert (lemon tart with berries) was exceptional. We should have skipped the main menu and gone straight for that!
Won't be back -- there are just too many very good places to eat in SF (a number within a few blocks of Cortez).
Pros: ambiance
Cons: , food
