Won't Go Again 9/10/2003

My husband and I went to Morton's for our 15th anniversary. I spent weeks carefully selecting the restaraunt. We set an early reservation for a booth. The place was packed when we got there with bluejean clad diners from a WalMart convention. (Not Morton's fault, but it set the tone.) Then to our surprise, we found out that their steaks are not grilled, but rather broiled in an oven. My husband tried the filet mignon, but was very disappointed. The portions were huge, especially the prime rib. The sides were just as large, but the spinach was, well, odd. The tomato salad was very good. I ordered the Godiva chocolate dessert when we finished dinner, but was told I should have ordered it at the beginning. Our waiter had failed to tell us that. The hype was misleading. I won't be back. Pros: attentive service, salad Cons: atmosphere, steaks, sides more
