I dined at Baraka for the first time last night and had a lovely experience. The service was gracious and attentive, and we were seated promptly (with a reservation). In spite of how crowded the restaurant was, it managed to feel intimate, thanks to the warm decor and low lighting. And then there was the food, which was excellent and full of surprising flavors and textures. We had a succulent duck salad, dates stuffed with chorizo, cucumber salad--refreshing on a hot night--and luscious meatballs and lamb kebabs. We tried the creamy, almond-infused rice pudding for dessert, with wonderful mint tea. The flavors of every dish were bright and complex, and I only wish we could have sampled more, but we were too full.
