This is not a great restaurant so do not expect haute cuisine. Chophouse standards are tasty: a pepper-crusted steak I had for instance is the best I have ever had. Prepared foods can be up or down. A Christmas dinner beef filet with sauce was delcious and prepared precisely as I requested it. Fried squid, however, were so greasy I could not finish them. They have since been updated and are better (but still not great). If you go, go for its lovely atmosphere and old-world service and if your meal is wonderful, so much the better. Bottled beer selection has been recently updated (things happen slowly at the Saint Paul), so at least this quibble has been addressed. But what happened to its charming bar manager Ken Awada? Turnover is not a good thing....
Pros: chops, atmosphere, service
Cons: prepared foods, beer selection
