Since I was a child, I have always insisted upon going to Nye's for my birthday dinner. I have also gone there to celebrate many other milestones (prom, graduation, engagement, etc.). Their food was always incredible and the ambiance can't be beat. However, we have gone there twice in the past two months and the food was terrible both times! The first time my filet mignon was as tough as beef jerky. I decided on Polish sausage and saeurkraut last night and was sorely disappointed. My husband got the filet last night and it was as tough as mine was last time. My mothers jumbo sea scallops were so overcooked they were the texture of a superball. We have always been loyal customers of Nye's, but I think that we will find another ""special occasion"" restaurant for the future. The service and atmosphere are still awesome though.
