I've met friends for drinks and dinner here several times over the past three years. I always look forward to going back. It can get crowded at night, but you never know who you might see here. I've never seen a celeb, but supposedly they come here once in a blue moon.
Bartenders can be a bit abrupt but the crowds keep them really busy. Sometimes the management sets up a beer-only bar on the patio to alleviate the crush at the bar inside.
As for the food: this is standard cafe/pub fare. Nothing fancy but it will fill you up. I always get the New York Steak, and it's always been good (the cut of meet itself wasn't great last time, but it was still prepared nicely with mash potatoes and freshly steamed veggies).
Overall, C&F is one of my favorite Hollywood hangouts.
Pros: easy to get in, good beer selection, people watching
Cons: parking hard to find
