Set aside four hours or so in an evening, and make sure you eat a small lunch. The fondue at the Times is chock full of quality AND quantity, and it is nicely drawn out over an entire evening. This is definitely a date event, but maybe not for a first date (unless you're either really confident or if this is a first date with an old flame...which worked for me...). On weekends there may be live music; call ahead to be sure. The only drawback is that it's a bit pricey, but for a four hour event, $150 isn't too much to pay for apps, entrees, desserts, two bottles of wine, and a little live music.
