JB is a good city escape, under an hour from midtown. There are three bus stops along the beach, each with concessions/facilities. The central areas of the beach are crowded with families. Further along on the west side of the beach is a predominantly gay area, and at either extremity of the beach topless sunbathing is common (and legal). Sand is OK but a bit coarse and sometimes a little dirty.
