Besides Mardi Gras, this is what my children remember about New Orleans. It's always open, and it's just a streetcar and a short walk away. The Beignets (yes, uppercase for these little pastries) are, in the New Orleans vernacular, ""to die for."" If you're allergic to confectionairy sugar - don't go! It remains an argument in our family as to whether the remains show more sugar on the plates or on us! Strong coffee (chickaree), good hot chocolate and cheap prices help makes this bustling establishment a household name.
Pros: great beignets, great hot drinks, retail
Cons: inconsistent service
