I'm a California kid and CA is not bbq country, so I've had less than my share of top-notch cue. That said, my first meal at Tom Jenkins' damn near brought tears to my eyes. Every item on the plate was the best version of itself I'd ever had. Best smoked pork; best sauce; best mac & cheese; best greens; even (believe it or not) the best corn muffin. You can travel the world for gourmet cooking and then feel a bizarre enlightenment over your styrofoam plate at this place. Much more of a relgious food experience than I've ever had at any restaurant in San Francisco.
